What is Topics Chat?
Topics Chat is a community platform for creators, experts and community builders to host topic-based group chats and monetize their conversations: paid replies, subscriptions, 1:1 calls, custom videos and donations. Open Beta is live now on iOS and Android.
How to download the app?
Topics Chat is available on the App Store (iOS 14+) and Google Play (Android 10+). Use the download buttons on the home page or search for 'Topics Chat' in either store.
Is the use of Topics Chat free?
Opening an account and using Topics Chat is free. Phase 2 features involve transactions between creators and their members (paid replies, subscriptions, 1:1 calls, custom videos, donations); Topics applies a platform fee on those.
What features are available?
Phase 1 (live): Tab-based group chats, Live Rooms, 2Reply, Communities, Task management, Location. Moderation combines automatic filters and human review. Reports on messages, rooms or users are reviewed within 24h. Phase 2 (coming soon): Tab subscriptions, Priority Replies, 1:1 Calls, Custom videos, Donations.
Can I use Topics Chat on multiple devices?
Yes, on multiple iOS and Android devices with your active account.
Where can I buy my username on Topics Chat?
You can purchase your username directly in the app or through our website at usernames.topicschat.com.
Who is eligible for the beta version of Topics Chat?
Open Beta is publicly available. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play and create an account.
General Conditions, Terms and Privacy Policy
What are the general conditions and privacy policy?
The General Terms govern installation, use and account closure. We follow GDPR. See our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy linked in the footer.
What personal data is required?
Phone number, email, date of birth (see Privacy Policy).
Is my information secure?
Yes, integrity and confidentiality measures. See Privacy Policy.
How to access/correct/delete data?
Settings (Home > 3 dots > Settings > Edit). To delete personal data, delete your account or reach us via the support page.
Others
Notifications settings
We may notify you when you receive messages, you are mentioned, we recommend a channel or Live Room, or there are people in the app you might know. Configure notification preferences from the Settings menu in the app.
Starting a conversation
You can start individual conversations. Go to Chat and tap (+) to start a new chat, or use Search, select a user, and open the chat.
Cancel message sending
Select the message > Delete. (Message may already have been seen.)
KYC (Know Your Customer)
KYC verification is required for creators who want to receive payments through Phase 2 monetization features. Handled via Stripe Connect in a single setup that takes a few minutes.
Username Marketplace
You can reserve a username today at usernames.topicschat.com. The full peer-to-peer marketplace is in design.
Live Rooms
Live Rooms are ephemeral spaces around specific themes (up to 24 hours, up to 20 people). Rooms go private at capacity. When time's up, the admin decides what stays permanent. You can report messages, entire Rooms, or users. Reports are reviewed within 24h. Moderation combines automatic filters and human review.
Privacy, Security, and Reporting
If uncomfortable with content, leave or unfollow chats or block users. Report content that may violate guidelines. Private conversations are encrypted.
